Aspire to Pastoral Ministry?

The Doxa 6:4 Internship exists to equip godly men through a practical training program and an environment of spiritual fellowship and relationships. This program emphasizes unreserved commitment to the worship of God, submission to the authority of the Scriptures, a life of personal holiness, the priority of the local church, and the mission of glorifying God by making disciples.

For an aspiring elder/pastor or church planter/missionary, we provide a 2-year 4-semester internship intended to be supplemental to a seminary education and bridge the gap between the classroom and the local church (get an example of one such semester syllabus here). Our goal is to train and equip for the work of ministry both in our local church and in the multiplication of churches and ministries. View the biblical qualifications for Elders here.

Applications for the 2025/2026 class are now closed. Applications for the next cohort will open Fall 2027.

2026-2027 Interns

intern 5 2026Justin Hall

Justin and his family has been attending Doxa since December 2020. He married his high school sweetheart, Shara, in May 2009, and the Lord has graciously blessed them with three beautiful daughters: Hannah, Emmie, and Riley. He works maintaining critical infrastructure systems for a telecommunications company. Justin has served in various roles throughout his time at Doxa, most of which have been in Doxa Students and in leading a small group in their home with his wife. His prayer for the internship is to be better equipped to faithfully and lovingly shepherd the flock of Christ. Justin's dream is to see a Christ-exalting church planted or revitalized in his hometown of Wheatland, though he is ready for however the Lord desires to use him.

intern 2 2026Lucas Brown

Lucas Brown and his wife, Vanessa, have been attending Doxa since 2024. They both currently serve on staff, with Vanessa serving in kids ministry and Lucas serving as Pastor Scott’s executive assistant. As he prepares to begin seminary this fall, Lucas is excited for this season of sharpening both his theological convictions and the practical aspects of ministry. He has a deep desire to see the local church strengthened and, Lord willing, hopes to one day plant a church out of Doxa.

intern 1 2026Patric Hillenbrand

Patric Hillenbrand has been a member of Doxa Church since 2016 and is married to his best friend, Justine. He is the father of four boys and has three grandchildren. He and Justine currently serve together in Doxa Kids Ministry as well as at Eden Classical Academy, where Justine is a teacher. Patric has been a well-respected business leader in our community for more than 30 years. He works with many local Christian ministries and currently serves as a board member for Sierra Pregnancy and Health. Patric aspires to the office of elder and is eager to grow into that calling through the 6:4 Internship, Doxa Church’s pastoral training program.

intern 3 2026Jeffrey Yang

Jeffrey has been an attending member of Doxa Church since 2022. He and his wife, Kelly, have been married for over twenty years and are blessed with a son, Jooah. Jeffrey previously served for more than five years as a small group leader and youth director at a PCA church, and he currently serves in Doxa Kids Discipleship and the Connect Room ministry. As a disciple of Jesus, Jeffrey views the 6:4 Internship not as a matter of personal choice or readiness, but as a duty to faithfully carry forward the torch entrusted to him by those who walked before him and to pass it on to those who follow. Trusting God beyond his personal weaknesses, he seeks to step forward in obedience and equip himself for the calling God has given him.

intern 4 2026Dustin English

Dustin and his wife, Mandie, have been attending Doxa since October 2013 and, since that time, have been blessed with four children: Cadence, Adelaide, David, and William. Dustin serves on the worship team for the main service as well as in Doxa Kids and Students, and he has also previously served as a small group leader. He works for an HVAC distributor in Sacramento as a department manager. Through this internship, he is excited to grow in his depth of knowledge and love for the Lord, to be a better leader for his family and in his work, and, Lord willing, to serve the church in the future.
