Vision for Worship at Harvest

BenBlog

My vision for Biblical Worship at Harvest is to encourage, develop, and raise up true worshippers who worship the Triune God in spirit and truth within all aspects of life; that we might be a people who grow in our understanding of God and respond by making much of Him with our lives not just music. As we grow in our understanding of God, allowing the Word to transform our hearts and minds, our affections for the Lord will deepen and our capacity to worship Him will become greater. My hope is that Harvest would be a church that in whatever we do we would do unto the Lord; that in our work places, relationships, neighborhoods, schools, families, hobbies, and pursuits we would commit our ways to the Lord. I want us to be a people who truly grasp what it means to offer our lives as a living sacrifice holy and acceptable to God, seeking to unify, encourage, equip, and serve the body of believers.

On a weekly basis I want us to seek to execute high impact services where people can gather weekly to encounter Jesus and respond to Him through the expression of music. As we gather weekly, the music we sing will seek to accomplish three things: make much of the Triune God, encourage the body of believers, and preach the gospel to the lost.

On a monthly basis, my hope is that we might grow in our creativity of how we execute these high impact worship services. That our creativity would serve as a tool to advance the gospel and glorify the Lord. As soon as our creativity distracts from this purpose, something needs to change.

On a yearly basis I want to be a worship ministry who writes, records, and provides original music, specific to the DNA of Harvest Sacramento, in order to bless the local and global Church. I also want us to be a ministry that is constantly seeking to develop and cultivate worship ministries and opportunities within all ministries of our church. How are we developing the next generation in worship; our kids, students, young adults, etc.? I want us to be a ministry that also raises up worshippers into worship leaders into worship pastors who are sent out locally to the west coast and globally to the nations to lead and pastor worship ministries at other church plants. I am excited and expectant for what the Lord is going to do in the years to come.

Lastly my goal is to develop and cultivate a worship team whose hearts are first after the Lord - talent comes second. You can have all the talent in the world but if you don’t have a foundation of biblical character you will eventually crumble on yourself. I want us to be a team who strives for excellence in what we do so that we can remove as much distraction as possible for people to encounter the Lord through our worship ministry. I long to see our team collaborate together to cast and carry out vision for the worship ministry.
