Joy In Our World

December 14, 2014 Preacher: Scott Hollingshead Series: Joyful Generosity

Topic: Money Scripture: 2 Corinthians 8:1–8

For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ...

BIG IDEA: The greatest definition of joyful generosity is in Jesus Christ. Why should our lives be joyfully generous? Because as Christians, we have:

1. The riches of God

that though he was rich,

John 17:5 says, “And now, Father, glorify me in your own presence with the glory that I had with you before the world existed.”

Philippians 2:6 “who though he was in the form of God."

Micah 5:2 "whose coming forth is from of old, from ancient days"

Isaiah 9:1 "Everlasting Father"

2. at Christ’s expense

yet for your sake he became poor,

2 Cor 6:10 "as poor yet making many rich"

The poverty of Jesus is seen in such passage as Gal 4:4; Rom 8:3; Col 1:20; Rom 1:3; John 1:14

3. credited to our account

so that you by his poverty might become rich.

Matthew 5:2 "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of God."
