Colossians 1:15-23

 

Jesus being God is what the entire Bible is pointing to! Accepting this truth is the best way to end 2017 and the only way to start 2018.

4 Components of Jesus’ Godhood

 

1) Jesus Is - The Image of God

    - Image = Exact Imprint

 

2) Jesus Is - The Firstborn of Creation

    - Firstborn = Authority in Time & Rank

      - Evidence 1: Immediate Context (v18)

      - Evidence 2: Other Biblical Context (Ex 4:22, Jer 31:9, Ps 89:27)

  

3) Jesus Is - The Head of The Church

    - Head = Authority & Source of Life

    - Jesus is the initiator and authority over the first creation and the new creation.

 

4) Jesus Is - The Firstborn from the Dead

    - Firstborn from the Dead = Originator of New Life

  

Result of Jesus’ Godhood

- Reconciliation = Right Relationship

The New Year is not about you, it’s about Jesus. Trust Him in whatever that comes and dedicate everything to keeping him first in what you do!
