Prayed up

Matthew 6:13

 1) Lead us not into temptation

1. Does God lead us into temptation?

Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God,” for God cannot be tempted with evil, and himself tempts no one” (Ja 1:13).

2. Where do temptations come from?

     -Internal - James 1:14

     -External

What does this mean for my prayer life?

1. Reminds us we don’t have the strength to fight on our own

-So pray this: Strengthen us ‘in’ and keep us ‘from’ temptation

1 Cor 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.

2. Reminds us temptations are an ongoing, daily threat

-So pray this: Grant us endurance in the fight against temptation

 2) Deliver us from evil

1. Evil or Evil one?

John 17:15 I don’t ask that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from the evil one

What does this mean for my prayer life?

  1. Keep us from the enemy and his works

       -Satan is a tempter

-Satan is an accuser-  If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9).

       -Satan is a schemer

       -Satan is a distracter
